MVP (minimum viable product)
An MVP, short for minimum viable product, is the smallest version of your product that can test, with real users, whether your main assumption is true.
Also called minimum viable product
Minimum means you leave out everything the test does not need. Viable means it still has to deliver enough value that people use it for real. An MVP is a test, not a small launch, so it comes with one clear question you want answered.
When this shows up
Example, not a real founder: you plan a first version with accounts, payments, a phone app and an admin area. The question you need answered is whether shop owners will upload their stock at all. A shared form and a reply by hand would answer that first.
What to do next
Write your riskiest assumption in one sentence. Then cut every feature from your plan that does not help test that sentence.
