what they asked

“At the wall. A Chrome extension summarizing email threads for freelance recruiters, 4 months post-launch. One Product Hunt launch plus two subreddit posts: 1,100 visitors, 62 installs, 12 unprompted weekly actives, 3 trials, zero conversions, 11 features shipped since launch, two pivot ideas tempting them, 4 months of savings left.”

Verdict: Perseverewhat came back

Persevere. One acquisition channel worked daily where freelance recruiters already gather, the recruiting subreddits, Slack and Discord communities, and LinkedIn threads where they complain about email overload, paired with direct pricing conversations with all 12 weekly actives. Zero new features this month.

FAQ

Is flat for six months always a quit signal?

No. Flat with active users who love the thing is the opposite situation from flat with silence, same chart, opposite story. The users are the difference, which is why the diagnostic starts there.

What if I already know I want to pivot?

Then be honest about why. If the reason is evidence, the diagnostic will confirm it fast. If the reason is exhaustion, the new idea inherits the same founder avoidance that starved the old one.

My runway is short. Does that change the verdict?

It changes the deadline, not the logic. A short runway makes the thirty-day test more urgent, not skippable, because the next months are the last ones you get to spend on the right thing.
