Pitch deck

A pitch deck is a short set of slides that tells an investor what problem you solve, for whom, why now, and why your team can win.

Also called investor deck, startup pitch deck, deck

Looking this up for a class, a job, or something you want to build? If it is the last one, nommi reads your idea before you spend months on it.

Most decks cover the same ground: the problem, your solution, the market, traction (proof that people want it), the business model, the team, and what you are raising and why. A deck is often read before a meeting is agreed, so each slide has to make one point that can be read on its own.

This is not legal or tax advice, check with a lawyer or accountant.

When this shows up

Example, not a real founder: you send a long deck full of product screenshots to an investor after a warm intro. The reply asks who the customer is and what has happened so far, two things the deck never says plainly.

What to do next

Write the one sentence each slide must prove, in order, before you design anything. If a slide has no sentence, cut it. If a sentence has no slide, add one.
