Raising money
Warm intro
A warm intro is an introduction to an investor made by someone they already know and trust, instead of you reaching out cold.
Also called warm introduction
Part of the introducer's credibility carries over to you, so your message gets read with more attention. No rule says an investor needs one before taking a meeting. It works because it changes how your note is read. The best introducers know the investor well and can say something specific about you.
When this shows up
Example, not a real founder: you send your deck to a list of investors and hear nothing back. A founder you helped last year knows one of those investors personally and offers to forward a short note about you.
What to do next
Write a short note about your company that an introducer can forward as it is. Then ask one person who knows your target investor to send it.
