Finding customers and growing
Waitlist
A waitlist is a list of people who left their contact details to hear when a product is ready, which shows interest but not a commitment to use or pay.
Also called wait list, early access list
Looking this up for a class, a job, or something you want to build? If it is the last one, nommi reads your idea before you spend months on it.
Joining a waitlist takes a few seconds and costs nothing, so it is a light signal. Its real value is as a list of people to contact. When you ask them for something that costs a little, such as a short call, an introduction or a deposit, their answers tell you far more than the size of the list.
When this shows up
Example, not a real founder: a post about your idea spreads and many people join the waitlist in a day. You email some of them asking for a short call, and only a few reply. The waitlist measured the post. The replies measure the product.
What to do next
Email your ten most recent sign ups and ask each for one small commitment: a call, an introduction or a preorder. Count the yeses.
